303-764-1400 Applying for a Public Defender

Paralegals

Paralegals are core members of the OSPD team applying their close attention to detail and organization skills to manage complex cases. Paralegals assist with case planning, discovery management, legal research, communication with clients, trial support, and document drafting.

The OSPD typically hires entry-level paralegals who work under direct supervision of attorneys while developing fundamental skills in performing legal support duties and basic paralegal functions. Most paralegals are assigned to regional trial offices, located in judicial districts throughout the state with some positions available in our appellate and state administrative offices.

Applying for a Position

Paralegals are hired by individual regional offices. To apply for an opening, applicants will be asked to submit a cover letter, resume, and three professional references to the Office Head and Office Manager for the regional trial office. Please see job postings for more information.
