Administrative Staff
Administrative Staff Defenders provide compassionate and competent attention to our clients’ needs. They assist visitors and applicants for our services. As a part of a multidisciplinary team, they work with lawyers, investigators, social workers and paralegals on a daily basis to help them provide effective representation to our clients. They are the face to our visitors and the voice on the phone to callers. They use quality communication to cultivate relationships with courthouse staff and other members of the criminal legal system. They also maintain our case database and client files. Our administrative staff are truly the backbone of the Colorado Public Defender’s office.
OSPD also employs a small but mighty group of discovery clerks who support trial offices in processing “discovery” (electronic material like police reports and body worn camera provided to public defenders by prosecutors). Discovery clerks work remotely and in some circumstances on a part-time basis.
Applying for a Position
Each of our twenty-three offices handle the hiring for their administrative staff members individually. To apply for an opening, applicants will be asked to submit a cover letter, resume, and three professional references to the Office Manager of the location of their choice. Please see job postings for more information.
Discovery clerks are hired centrally by the State Administrative Office.
